Tip #1: fast or slow

January 25, 2020

Here is tip #1.

We often hear therapists, struggling when using Bilateral Stimulation (BLS).  In particular, when do they go fast or slow?

You use fast BLS anytime there is the presence of negative content.  So anytime you are processing negative content, you use fast BLS.  You use fast BLS, anytime you are in a negative neural network.  Even when good stuff is coming up, you continue to use fast BLS.  For example, when you are processing, using fast BLS, and your client is beginning to experience good things, and you hear positive things, such as positive emotions, sensations, etc., you continue to use fast BLS because you are still in a negative neural network.   You continue to use fast BLS until you have processed the SUD down to 0, and you continue to use fast BLS as you install the positive cognition and complete the Installation Phase.  In addition, you also use fast BLS as you complete the Body Scan.

You may wonder why you are using fast BLS as you install the positive cognition.   Please remember you are still up against the negative neural network.  Many times we are installing the positive cognition, thinking all is fine, and something else gets activated.  We are so glad we are using fast BLS because our clients are still processing.

The only time you use slow BLS is when there is the absence of negative content, and there is only positive content.  You are outside of the negative neural network and you are not touching it.  You use slow BLS when you are resourcing, building a container, building a felt state of safety and orienting to the present moment, and a safe calm place, and other resourcing protocols.
